Our Campaign Earns Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction!
Our campaign for US House of Representatives in Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District has earned the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction!
In the past I have joined other citizens and volunteers to lobby on behalf of Moms Demand Action’s legislative agenda. I remember that most recently we gathered at US Representative Rick Nolan’s office in Duluth to urge him to vote against Conceal Carry Reciprocity legislation, which would weaken Minnesota’s strong protections by allowing conceal carry permits from shall issue jurisdictions to be honored here. This meeting with Rep. Nolan was during the civil unrest in Charlottesville, the ‘Unite the Right’ rally where armed racists discharged firearms in crowded public spaces (KKK leader arrested for firing a gun near a school). Rick Nolan impressed me with his willingness to stand up to the NRA, and I know that we can continue to win elections and hold this district for the Democratic Party while pursuing sensible gun violence prevention measures, like universal background checks and preventing straw purchases of firearms for terrorist groups, and pursuing global controls on the international trade in small arms and light weapons.
